About Us
Metamorphic Gear was born from the wind and waves. Founder Lindsay Lawrence grew up surrounded by the sea — a lifelong sailor with salt in his veins and a passion for adventure. From the deck of a sailboat to remote coves across the world, Lindsay’s experiences on the water shaped his respect for durability, purpose, and design. Having spent years traveling, sailing, and exploring, he saw firsthand the remarkable strength of sailcloth and marine materials — and the waste left behind when their first life was over.
Together with his wife and co-owner Kim Lawrence, Lindsay turned that realization into something lasting. Guided by shared values of sustainability, family, and exploration, they built Metamorphic Gear as a reflection of their life on and off the water. Each product represents a balance between adventure and everyday living — durable enough for the elements, stylish enough for the city. Their vision was simple: create gear that tells a story and inspires new ones.
Every piece of Metamorphic Gear begins with materials that have already lived bold lives — sails, climbing ropes, marine vinyl, and more. Before these high-performance materials end up as waste, they’re rescued, cleaned, and transformed into few-of-a-kind gear designed to stand up to wherever life takes you. Lindsay’s hands-on knowledge from years of sailing shaped his belief that performance and sustainability can coexist — that style doesn’t have to come at the cost of the planet.
At Metamorphic, we believe your gear should be as unique as you are. Every bag carries a story from the sea to the city, ready to start its next chapter with you. Because adventure doesn’t end when the sails come down — it just changes shape.
